Jackie Chan wants desperately to be something more than just a chop socky guy - particularly as his body slows down and he becomes less able to pull off the ridiculous stunt work - and is hard at work rehabbing his image. He's got one film in the works playing a villain and he'll be appearing in a film for Zhang Yimou in the near future. But while those might give him the chance to show a little more range than normal they're both still martial arts roles and he really wants to show he can do drama. It looks like The Shinjuku Incident will be his chance...
According to Monkey Peaches the film starts rolling in April and will star Chan as a man who moved to Tokyo as a student, which covers the Shinjuku part of the title. Alas, no word on the titular Incident.
Don't know that I'll be able to buy Chan as a serious actor but more power to him for trying...
